The narrow road was jammed with parked cars on both sides. And the side of the field (where they throw dead chickens to attract the eagles) was jammed with viewers and photographers. This is just a tiny snippet of the photographers anxiously waiting for the eagles to feed:
But the eagles weren't budging from the far side of the field:
People had come from all over to see this annual spectacle. We asked the women next to us if they were from "the photo club" (us thinking: the big city of Halifax). They answered "yes" (them thinking: their club from St. John's, Newfoundland!). Further conversation clarified that six of them had flown in the night before and had been waiting for over 3 hours for the eagles to budge from the trees. We waited an hour, and then headed over to the community hall for a breakfast of pancakes and sausages. Afterwards, we circled the large country block and came across this guy: 
Such fierce looking creatures, but so spectacular.
And I was so very glad we decided to go (for our 3rd year). I never would have heard this guy screech if I stayed at home.
The larger prints belong to Mulligan, who is 60 pounds. The 3 prints on the left are a mystery. We followed the prints down to our "rock island". The rock island is a huge pile of rocks that cuts our hayfield in half. Our 79 year old neighbour remembers the "old timers" picking rocks from the fields with oxen and stoneboats. I'm thinking if we end up with a tractor (re yesterday's post) we may find some uses for all the rocks :) 
The trees (above) are on either end of the rock pile. I am currently spending time musing about what exactly to do with our property. We have 20 acres in total, and approx 15 acres are hayfield. The local farmers tell us the hay is no good any longer. So I muse about whether to "restore" the forest. The farmers are horrified by this idea and think the fields should be kept cut. I try to think of how best to prepare the land for future generations. Some think it would be best just to let nature take its course...the field will fill in gradually over time. I waver back and forth. In the meantime, I have contacted a couple of people who may be able to give me some advice.

And the real playing began yesterday.
The words "Flowers In My Heart" were etched using a dremel. The ribbon doesn't show up well...there are pink rhinestones on the ribbon, which is at the bottom point of the heart.
What a view this home has...overlooking a lake. I wonder that no one has bought the property to build another home.
No window is unbroken.
We did not go inside, but stood outside the windows and took some photos.
While we were there, I wondered why someone would leave their furniture behind.
But looking at some of my photos, there are charred beams and boarded doors. It seems there was a fire there.

There's too much negativity in the world! I am trying to bring back some positive thinking with some inspirational photography. I have listed these in my Etsy shop as prints, but now they are available in postcard size...right here!
Which now screams "Boring!" in my mind. Now I like to move in closer to try to capture the details.

Good to remember for day to day life too...keep it simple...stay focused...eliminate distractions. Must remember to practice!
It was our second day out looking at tractors, and I think we have one picked out (it helps when we had 2 used tractors we were considering and one was sold!). I don't know if we'll get this one, but I'm pretty sure there is one in my future. On the way from one tractor dealer to another, we stopped at Beans in Wilmot, Nova Scotia.

What a treasure trove of stuff! If you like antiques and collectibles, this is the place for you.
I think you could visit Beans countless times, and see something different every time. There were things to look at everywhere.
And everything you could imagine...
Eye candy for me....I love old things.
It's always an adventure when we head out on the road. I never know what we're going to stumble across!
I don't usually sketch out my ideas for my window designs, but I've had so many in my head the last month or so that I started putting them on paper to empty my head a bit (ha, ha...I can hear the jokes.) Sometimes my head is quite empty, but sometimes it's so packed with ideas that I can't sleep at night.
The idea for "Flowers In My Heart" started with a song by Canadian singer Lennie Gallant. It's a beautiful song, and one of my favourites....."You're like flowers in my heart, I walk through them whenever we're apart..." . The man in the song is singing to his child, but in my mind I have changed it for this window project. If you look close, you can see the outline of the heart:
I am working on a series of windows to raise awareness for breast cancer. This is my first one. My "Flowers In My Heart" are all my friends....new friends and long time friends, near friends and far friends.
There is something good in everything. And the something good about my breast cancer diagnosis is that it is a reminder of just how many friends we have. And how very lucky we are. I'm not done my window yet...
But I wanted to share the start of my tribute to all of you...you are truly Flowers In My Heart.
